Yvonne Fritz

Yvonne Fritz 1924-2012, of Chester NY, died Monday November 5, 2012 at Orange Regional Medical Center A star that shone so brightly in the heavens has gone out. A gem that was the center of our hearts is gone. A woman whose heart was as big as the world has ceased to beat. Her legacy shall be in the love she gave to everyone and that was cherished so dearly by those who received it. Continue to pass on that love, in her honor. Yvonne was born December 1, 1924 in Paris, France, the daughter of Janos and Ethel Draganits. She immigrated to the US at age 14, overcame the language barrier to later attend Hunter College, graduating in 1945, majoring in Statistics and Art. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Raoul Fritz, a handsome French sailor who swept her off her feet when she met him volunteering at a canteen during WWII. Yvonne was a French teacher in Farmingdale for many years before moving to Goshen in 1983 to be close to her children. She relished teaching and learning, and continued to teach at the Encore senior learning program as well as tutoring students, young & old in her home. Yvonne loved playing Bridge, doing crossword puzzles and was always intellectually curious, but most of all she loved her family. She will always be remembered for her kindness, gentleness and intelligence. She is survived by her three children and spouses; Yvonne (& Frank) Doberman, Andre (& Elisa) Fritz, Claire (& Richard) Kamp, her grandchildren, Danielle and Matthew, as well as 10 great-grandchildren who referred to her affectionately as "Grandma-mama". In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation may be made in her honor.
