Yvonne Zoé Lantelme Forrest

It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Yvonne Zoé Lantelme Forrest at the age of 98 on January 7, 2024. She was a resident of Glen Arden Retirement Community in Goshen, NY since 2017.

Yvonne was born in St. Augustine, Fl on July 3, 1925, to Louis and Zoè Chopard Lantelme. Her parents, of French and Italian descent, emigrated from France with 3 of her siblings in 1918 to St. Augustine. The family grew to a total of seven children, to whom Yvonne remained close to all of them throughout their lifetimes. In 1929 the family moved to Long Beach, NY, a town that was always a beloved place for Yvonne and her siblings.

She received a B.A. in Education from Fordham University and continued her studies to receive a M.A. in Education from Queens College. Yvonne taught elementary and middle school for two decades in Oceanside, NY.

Yvonne married the love of her life, Dr. Henry (Hank) Forrest in 1968 and they resided happily in Long Beach, NY until his death. She and Hank loved to travel and entertained often in their beautiful oceanfront apartment.

Yvonne had a very fulfilling second career working in New York City for The Bank of Tokyo and later Lehman Brothers as an executive secretary. Both places of employment allowed her to use her linguistic skills as she was fluent in both French and Spanish.

Passionate for culture from a very young age, Yvonne loved ballet, theater and classical music and had seen legendary performances for decades, often with her oldest sister Henrietta (Zoé) Lantelme Belth.

Yvonne was predeceased by her beloved parents, Louis and Zoé Lantelme and her siblings Henrietta (Zoé) Belth, Antionette (Toni) Lantelme, Henry (Hank) Lantelme, Peter (Pete) Lantelme, Marguerite (Midge) Kelerchian and Rudolph (Rudy) Lantelme.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and nephews all who will always remember her fondly as our beloved Tia.

In lieu of flowers please feel free to make contributions to an educational scholarship in her youngest brother and sister-in-law's name:
