WILLIAM J. MCGREEVY April 4, 1944 - January 8, 2016 Chester, NY William J. McGreevy, age 71 of Chester died Friday, January 8, 2016 at home with his loving family by his side. William was born April 4, 1944 in the Bronx, NY. He is the son of the late John McGreevy and the late Lillian Byrnes McGreevy. William served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a Detective in NYPD. He retired out of the 32 PCT Squad in 1986. Bill was a proud member of the Orange County Shields, FOP and The NYPD Emerald Society. William is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Mary C. (Kozik) McGreevy; his children: William J. McGreevy and his wife, Maryann of Northport L.I., NY, Tara Desharnais and her husband, Michael of Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, NY, Tricia Makuen and her husband, Kevin of Goshen, NY, Maureen Renaghan and her husband, Matt of Harrington Park, NJ; his seven adoring grandchildren: Owen and Kieran McGreevy, Lillian and Ava Desharnais, Charlotte Makuen and Jack and Matthew Renaghan; sisters: Patricia McGreevy-Carr and her husband, Thomas Carr of Yonkers, NY, Elizabeth Pipa and her husband, Albert of Pleasantville, NY; brother-in-law, Paul Kozik and his wife, Cyndy of Milford, CT; his nephews: Christopher and Timmy Pipa, Michael Kozik and John Paul Napolitano and his one and only niece, Kelly Kozik. Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, January 12th at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church St., Goshen, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13th at St. Columba R.C. Church, 27 High St., Chester, NY. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Chester, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Williams name may be made to the NYC PBA Widows' and Children's Fund.
