William Duggan

William E. Duggan, Jr. of Goshen, New York, a retired Senior Civil Engineer (Legal Affairs) with the Orange County Department of Public Works, died September 5, 2011 at Valley View Nursing Care, Goshen, NY. He was 83 years old. The only son of the late William E. Duggan, Sr. and Ella Mary Cunningham Duggan, he was born September 6, 1927 in Goshen, NY. Mr. Duggan was a member of Sigma Pi Sigma (National Physics Honor Society); a graduate and life member alumnus of Florida State University; former member of the American Rocket Society (Jet Propulsion Laboratory); former Nuclear weapons Specialist with the U.S. Army at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey; Life member, past Commander and Chaplain of American Legion Post 377, Goshen, NY; Life member and Chaplain of VFW Post 1708, Goshen, NY; former President of the Orange County Employees CSEA; an avid fisherman and former President of the Otisville Sportsmens Association; a Licensed Radio Amateur since 1946; a World War II Veteran serving in the US Maritime Service as a US Coast Guard Electrician; a Korean Conflict Veteran serving in the US Air Force with the 6571st Air Armament Group; and member of the Orange County Genealogical Society. He enjoyed spending time on the Internet with friends world-wide and appreciated all genres of music. Survivors include his beloved daughter-in-law, Maria M. Duggan, twin grandsons, Andrew and Erik of Peabody, MA; three sons, Matthew E. Duggan of Boston, MA, Christopher E. Duggan of Goshen, NY and Joshua E. Duggan of Warwick, NY; a grandson, Christopher W. Duggan and granddaughter, Kelcey Rose Duggan of Clearwater, FL; former wife, Edna Runnells Ranck, as well as various cousins, nephews and nieces. He was blessed with many devoted friends and fellow veterans who added joy and comfort to his life. He was predeceased by his wife, Madeleine Sainte-Claire Duggan and daughter, Yvette Belle Duggan. Friends may call on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Graveside Service and burial will follow at the Orange County Veteran's Cemetery, Craigville Road, Goshen, NY with military honors. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers may be made to the Goshen Fire District, PO Box 278, Goshen, NY 10924 Arrangements under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen, NY.
