Velma M. Elfers Campbell Hall, New York Velma M. Elfers, 69, of Campbell Hall, NY died with her family around her Friday, September 3, 2010 at Park Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Middletown, NY. Velma was born July 8, 1941 in Eastchester, NY, the youngest of 3 sisters born to the late Erwin and Velma (Peterson) Richardson. She was a graduate of Eastchester High School and Berkley Secretarial School. Velma worked for IBM on Madison Avenue in White Plains, NY where she spent many happy years doing the job she loved until the birth of her son Chris in 1967. She worked again for Marcel Dekker Publishing in Monticello, NY until retirement. Velma is survived by her husband, Warren Elfers of 49 years; son Christian Elfers and her sister Janet Colabella. Velma was a truly compassionate wife and mother. Her sweet and gentle ways lit up all who knew her. Those who she called friend were lucky to know her. She enjoyed reading, walking, gardening and traveling to far away islands. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 8 from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, September 9 at the Chapel at Cedar Hill Newburgh, NY. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer' Association in Velma's name. Arrangements under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen.
