Thomas Ward

On November 10, 2015, Thomas Augustine Ward, passed away at home with his wife beside him. He was 79, born in The Bronx and a 27 year resident of Middlehope, NY. He is predeceased by his father Henry Dykstra Ward, his mother Lillian (Stokes) Ward, twin sisters, Ann Olsson and Mary McNeill and brother-in-law, Tommy McNeill Tom served in his country in the Navy for over 4 years as a Signal Man 3rd class on the U.S.S. Saratoga CVA60. He retired after 20 years as a Police Officer with the NYPD in the Bronx. He also retired as a Chief Master Sgt. with the NY Air National Guard after more than 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Dulgerian) Ward; three brothers, Henry, Gerard, Malachy and their families, 2 sons, Michael Houser and Matthew Ward, 3 daughters, Veronica Houser, Karen and Amy Ward and 11 grandchildren. Tom loved golf and played weekly with the same three best friends for around 35 years. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fixing up old boats and RVing or camping all summer long. Last summer, he even attempted to learn playing the clarinet, just for fun. His dog, Sadie passed away just a few days before and she will be greeting him at the Pearly Gates. His wife and family would especially like to thank his doctors and their staffs, Dr. R. Diamond, Dr. U. Mishra, Dr. M. Islam, Dr. J. Singh, HV Cancer Resource Center and Hospice of Orange/Sullivan Counties. A very special "Thank You" to his Hospice nurse, Tom (Hank) Murphy. Visitation will be Friday, November 13 from 4 to 7 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The Funeral will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Donovan Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen.
