Thomas Owen Moore, age 77, of Goshen, died Thursday, October 22, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born January 18, 1938 in Ridgewood, NJ, the son of the late Elbert T. and Nora (O'Shaughnessy) Moore. He attended Farleigh Dickinson University and proudly served his country as a medic in the National Guard. He then followed in his father's footsteps at PSE&G before joining the NYPD. In the NYPD he was assigned to Highway 1 as a motorcycle officer, thus beginning his love affair with motorcycles, transferred to Motorcycle 4 and eventually retired from the 48 Precinct. He was the founder and former owner of Housecheck in Goshen, NY. He enjoyed playing his guitar, kayaking, sailing, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with family and friends. With his continuous positive attitude and fun loving spirit, he was an inspiration to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Thomas) Moore at home; children, Colleen Minnock and husband Mike of Goshen, Patricia Moore-Amante and husband John of Goshen, Timothy Moore and wife Debra of Middletown, Michael Moore and wife Melanie of Slate Hill, and Nancy Ellefsen and husband Kyle of Goshen; brother, Jack Moore and wife Nancy, their son Doug and his wife Kristie of Manahawkin, NJ; sister, Eileen Wideman and husband Richard of Monticello, FL; 10 grandchildren, Kelly, Mandy, Erin, Alison, Owen, Corey, Collin, Ryan, Valerie, Megan, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Patricia Moore and his granddaughters Alexis and Savannah Ellefsen. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Goshen Medical Infusion Center, Dr. Lesley Stead, Dr. Petr Bezdicek and the nurses and volunteers of Hospice of Orange and Sullivan counties for the compassionate, personalized care and dedication. Also the many friends and family that brightened up his day with each visit. Visitation will be Sunday, October 25 from 2 to 6 P.M. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Westbrookville Cemetery, Westbrookville, NY.
