Sophie Skotzko

SOPHIE SKOTZKO CAMPBELL HALL, NEW YORK Sophie Skotzko, 70, of Campbell Hall, NY, passed away with her family, Sunday, March 14, 2010 at home. Sophie was born February 16, 1940 in New York, NY, the daughter of the late John Derych and Mary (Salij) Derych. Sophie was an Educator for over forty years with her career starting at St. George Ukrainian Catholic School, and twenty plus years at the Goshen Central School District. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters at Church of the Assumption in Maybrook, NY and past secretary of the Hamptonburgh Seniors Club. She is survived by her husband, Michael Skotzko of Campbell Hall; her mother, Mary Derych of Middletown; daughter, Dr. Christine Skotzko and her husband Dr. Carlos Alvarez of Westfield, NJ; sons, Michael J. Skotzko, Jr. and his wife Cindra of West Lake Village, CA and Daniel Skotzko, DDS and his wife Kimberly of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Stephanie Huryn of Campbell Hall and Sally Bellotto and husband Joseph of Greenville, NY; grandchildren, Xiomara and Sophia Alvarez, Aidan and Noah Skotzko and Jarrett, Jonah and Josie Schneider. Visitation will be Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church St., Goshen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 19, at 10:00 am at Church of the Assumption in Maybrook, NY. Burial will follow in Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Campbell Hall, NY.
