Samuel Sam Zappavigna, of Campbell Hall, NY and formerly a 45 year long resident of Brooklyn, died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at Campbell Hall Rehabilitation Center, Campbell Hall, NY. He was 85. The son of the late Joseph and the Carmela Zappavigna, he was born October 2, 1921 in Italy. He was the widower of Evelyn Zappavigna. He was the manager of the Thruway Diner in New Rochelle, NY, a Dairy Farmer, and a Carpenter. He was a member of Staunch Yankee Fan. He loved the Cowboy life and owned horses. He was dedicated to his work at the Thruway Diner and at the Zappavigna Farm in Campbell Hall, NY. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Zappavigna of Greenwich, CT; step son, John Cleere and wife, Marianna of North Massapequa; sister, Rose Napolitano of Middletown; three grandchildren Thomas, Jessica, and Rebecca; one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn and brother, Dominick. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 21, 2007 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church Street in Goshen. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at 2nd Congregational Church, 139 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Queens at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
