RUTH S. MASTEN Ruth Sly Masten passed away peacefully into the hands of the Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 in Saratoga Springs, NY. Born in New Hamtpon, NY, on February 9, 1915, the daughter of Herman and Mabel (Walker) Sly. Ruth was a resident of Campbell Hall and Goshen, NY until 2002, when she moved to the Prestwick Chase Retirement Community in Saratoga Springs, NY. Ruth was a graduate of Goshen Central School and the College at New Paltz. She was an honored member of NYS Retired Teacher's Association. She worked in the Goshen School District for 25 years, 13 as an aide/substitute and 12 as a kindergarten teacher. Ruth is survived by 2 sons, Gary Masten and wife Sandra of Saratoga Springs, Richard Masten and wife Maureen of Murrells Inlet, SC; 4 grandchildren, Denise Schyljuk of Gansevoort, NY, Jeffrey Masten and wife Cynthia of Johnsonville, NY, Tim Masten of Glen Allen, VA and Sharon Masten of Woodstock, GA; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; loving husband Harvey; brothers, Leland Sly and Harold Sly; and her grandson, Brian Masten. Visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 1-3 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church St., Goshen, NY. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
