Ruth Astarita

Ruth Katherine Astarita Ruth K. Astarita, 93 of Goshen NY, formerly of Mahwah and Waldwick NJ, entered into eternal rest Friday, November 24, 2017. Ruth was born February 8, 1924 in Jersey City, NJ. She was predeceased by her first husband Harold Dornacker in 1950, as well as her second husband, Ralph J. Astarita in 2012. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and William, and a sister, Helen. She is survived by her loving daughters Linda and her husband Mike Pfister of Goshen NY, and Leslee and her husband Jim Thoelen of Salisbury Mills, NY; her sister, Alice Baxmeyer of Weehawken, NJ. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren (Todd Longo and his wife Kristen, Jimi Thoelen and his wife Tanya, Troy Longo and his wife Tammy, Jeff Thoelen and his wife Lauren, Jaimee Furman and her husband Josh), as well as 12 great grandchildren (Gianna, Taylor, Christopher, Briella, Tyler, Bryce, JP, Kolbie, Jackson, Harper, Charleigh, and Colton). Ruth was the matriarch of the family. She was an amazing mother, and a loving, caring, and adoring "Meema" to her grandchildren. Ruth's greatest joy was found in spending time and making memories with her family. She will be greatly missed, loved, and remembered always. Services will be held Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. Viewing will be available Monday 5-8pm. The funeral service will be held Tuesday November 28, 2017 at 10am at the Donovan Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
