Robert "Rocky" Millar Goshen, New York Robert "Rocky" Millar, 81, of Goshen died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at home. Robert was born April 9, 1929 in Woodside, NY, the son of James and Lillian (Lindberg) Millar. He was the husband of Helen Contos Millar. Rocky served in the U.S. Army from1950-1952 during the Korean War. He entered service as a New York State Trooper in September 1953. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1968, and served in that capacity until his retirement in January of 1977. He was also in charge of a security detail at Governor Rockefeller's Estate in Pocanaco Hills, NY for one year. Rocky was a gentle man who loved his family and country. He never lost his sense of humor and had a way of making people laugh. He enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the NY Giants and Yankees. He also loved playing golf with his buddies and was a member of the Al Turi golf league for many years. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Millar at home; children, Cynthia Forsythe of Pine Bush; Susan Millar of New York City; Robert Millar and wife Barbara and their children, Morgan and Kyle of Woodstock, GA; and Georgine Hendricks and husband Christopher and their children, Brooke, Tyler and Blake of Goshen; 3 step grandchildren, Amy, Kristy and Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James Millar. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen. Graveside Services and Burial will be in Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown on Monday, March 28 at 11:00 am. Contributions in Rocky's name may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550. Arrangements under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen.
