Richard Smith

September 29, 1974 — February 1, 2008

Richard E. Smith, 33, of, New Hampton, NY, formerly from Long Island, died Friday, February 1, 2008 at home in his sleep. Richard was born September 29, 1974 in Manhasset, NY the son of Richard Smith and Margaret Lyons. He was a loving father to Richie, son of Margaret Mauser, betrothed to Donna Sullivan. Rich was an arborist by trade and loved the outdoors as much as he loved life. He was so proud of and close to his son, Richie, and spent much of his time riding ATVs and dirt bikes with him. Rich had a huge heart and was always there to help others, no matter who or what the task. His smile was warm and infectious; his laugh could seem to bring sunshine even to a rainy day. God called him home far too soon. Though he will be so sorely missed, he touched and brightened the lives of all who met him. He is survived by his son, Richard X. Smith at home; mother, Margaret M. Mauser and husband John; father, Richard Smith; sisters, Kristen and Allison; brothers, Ryan and Matthew; maternal grandmother, Rita Lyons; Fiance, Donna Sullivan; many aunts and uncles and cousins; and 2 nieces Cailyn and Ava (his Goddaughters). Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 6 at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Elizabethtown, NY. Arrangements under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Goshen. For directions or to leave the family a personal condolence, please visit donovanfunerals.com
