Michael Mcfarlane

Michael E. McFarlane, 53, of Goshen, NY died Monday, August 11, 2014 at his home in Goshen. Michael was born August 13, 1960 in Yonkers, NY, the son of the late James J. McFarlane and Carol Ann (Eliot) McFarlane. Michael attended St. Mary's grammar school and Sacred Heart High School both in Yonkers, NY; he then went on to further his education at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 1983. Michael then began his illustrious 31 year police career with the NYPD as a patrolman in the 47th Precinct. After being promoted to Sergeant in 1992, he worked for the Division of Narcotics in the Bronx, where he was awarded many accolades for his outstanding police work. In 2002 he was assigned the FBI Joint Terrorist Task Force and promoted to Sergeant Special Assignment in 2008. He was an avid golfer, Yankees, and Giants fan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Maureen McFarlane (nee McCormick) at home; loving father to James McFarlane and Aileen McFarlane, both at home. He is also survived by his mother, Carol Ann McFarlane of Croton-on-Hudson; in-laws, Patrick and Maureen McCormick of Dumont, NJ; sisters-in-law, Bridget Thau and husband Adam of Parkland, FL and Cathleen Whelan and husband William of Emerson, NJ; brothers-in-law, Patrick McCormick and wife Tamara of Washingtonville, NY and Sean McCormick of Dumont, NJ; and his Aunt Theresa Connelly of Queens, NY; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Visitation will be Friday, August 15 from 2-8 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at St. John The Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen,, NY with Msgr. Conway officiating.
