Mary Sczerba

Mary J. Sczerba Grandma, Gigi, Ceoci Marion March 22, 1923 – October 7, 2017 Mary J. Sczerba, 94, of Goshen, entered into rest on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Valley View Center in Goshen, NY. Mary was born March 22, 1923 in Bloomfield, NJ, the daughter and youngest and last surviving child of Jacob and Josephine Kolasinska Sanok. Mary was also known as "Ceoci Marion" and especially, Grandma and Gigi. She worked as a monitor for Westinghouse Lamp Division and caregiver/nurse's aide at Valley View (formerly Orange Farm). She was a long and faithful member and a Catholic Daughter of America Society at St. John the Evangelist RC Church, Goshen. Mary had a deep faith in God and is at peace with her husband Stan in a place where there is no pain or suffering. She was a mentor and inspiration to everyone she touched; be they relative, friend, or new acquaintance, and will be remembered by all, especially by her new-found friends at Valley View. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Stanley Sczerba and leaves behind her loving and grieving family, Joyce Sliwa (Joseph), Thomas Sczerba (Andrea), Edward Sczerba (Susan) and Raymond Sczerba; ten grandchildren, Gerald (Samantha), Kathleen (Todd), Evan (Hanna), Jason (Shaunessy), Reid (Renske), Owen (Jacqueline), Amy (Andrew), Kelly (Thomas), Jonathan (Sara), Lauren (Frank); sixteen great grandchildren, Trevor, Dylan, Kailey, Tyler, Riley, Quinn, Ian, Evan, Caleb, Thomas, Bari, Grant, Sullivan, Kael, Chase and William. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her siblings, George, Frank, Joseph, Edmund, Antoinette, Jacob and Walter. Visitation will be Friday, October 13, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 14, at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist RC Church, 71 Murray Avenue, Goshen. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
