Mary Rose Cullen, 91, of Chester, NY, passed away, Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. Mary Rose was born February 17, 1923 in Chester, NY, the daughter of T.J. V. Cullen, Sr. and Mary (McCormick) Cullen. After WWII, she was accompanied by her sister Suzanne, and moved to Ireland to attend University College of Dublin; She graduated from Our Lady of Good Council, Briarcliff Manor. Mary Rose was a Medical Research Associate at Pfizer, Inc., Rockefeller University/Memorial Sloan Kettering; and Stony Brook University School of Dentistry. Although she loved the medical field, it was her love of gardening and her accomplishment when she became a Master Gardener that defined her. Mary Rose was a loving sister and aunt and she is survived by her sister-in-law, Marjorie Cullen, 20 nieces and nephews; 50 grand-nieces and nephews and 7 great-grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 4 siblings - Susan Cullen Harris, Thomas J.V Cullen Jr, Cathleen Cullen Tonjes (Al Tonjes), and Richard Cullen and her in-laws Raymond Harris, Elaine Degan Cullen and Al Tonjes Visitation will be Friday, November 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at St. Columba R. C. Church, 27 High St, Chester, NY. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Chester, NY. Donation in her name may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties and the Warwick Valley Gardeners Club.
