Maria Prociv

Maria Prociv died peacefully Thursday May 21 st in Spring Arbor, Michigan. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, her family and extended family were the pride and joy of her life. Maria Kijko was born in Zamch, Ukraine on January 22, 1923. She lived in Germany during the war, immigrating to the US in 1950 after marrying George Prociv, and having their first son, Theodore. They had two children in New York, Stefan and Christine. Maria was a hard worker with a great laugh, and was so proud of her children and their accomplishments. She participated in her Ukrainian church community, worked for many years and especially enjoyed time with their close friends in New York. Maria resided in Chicago and Michigan close to family for the last 22 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, George. She is survived by her sister Katerina and family in Australia, three children Theodore (Jo Ann), Stefan (Ingrid), Christine Leutz (Reynolds). Eight grandchildren Justin (Holly), Kathryn, Lauren, Andrea (Nathan), Stefanie (Ron), Alex (Jessica), Nina and Peter. Four great-grandchildren Addison, Bryson, Easton and Margaret. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Campbell, New York followed by interment in Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Special thanks to the caring and compassionate staffs of The House of Welcome in Northfield, IL, Spring Arbor Assisted Living the Willows Alzheimer's Unit and Southern Care Hospice of MI.
