It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria (Ortiz) Hilton, age 74, on November 2, 2026, at home in Campbell Hall, New York. She was born on September 22, 1952, in Caguas, Puerto Rico to Antonio Ortiz and Maximina Melendez. When she was 13, she was taken in by and raised with love by The Marzano/ Kamysek family of Monroe, New York. Maria was a beloved life partner, mother, and friend whose warmth and compassion touched the lives of many.

Maria is survived by her devoted partner, Joseph Volkmer; she was predeceased by two husbands, James Michael Berra and Elmo Hilton. She is survived by her siblings David Ortiz, Carlos Ortiz and Sonia Speirs, as well as brother in law Peter Speirs and sister in law Louise Ortiz. She was predeceased by her brothers Roberto Ortiz, Antonio Ortiz and Elizier Ortiz. Maria is also survived by foster siblings; Jimbo Marzano, Frank Marzano, Joey Marzano, Phyllis Marie Kamysek, Cecilia Kamysek, Elizabeth De Luca and Karl Kamysek; she was predeceased by her foster sister Julie Anne Marzano.

While she had five children of her own, Maria also created a family in the hearts of so many others through her unwavering kindness, compassion, and genuine concern for those around her. She is survived by her children, James Berra and wife Luz; Michael Berra; Justine Schreiber and husband Todd, Chris Hurley and wife Sheryce, and Erin Hilton. She is also survived by her partner's children; Julie Kappes and husband Mike, Charles Volkmer and wife Mandy, Joseph Volkmer and wife Tricia, Kiersti Volkmer and Jenna Volkmer. There are countless grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved with all her heart. Her love for her family was evident in every moment shared together, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY, on November 6, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Maria's life and share in fond memories. Following the visitation,
