Ludare Dulgarian Middletown, New York Ludare Dulgarian, age 88, of Middletown, NY, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Orange Regional Medical Center Horton Campus, Middletown, NY. Ludare was born October 9, 1921 in Monroe, NY, the son of the late Toros and the late Ester (Vartevarian) Dulgarian, who were Armenian immigrants to the United States during the Russian Revolution. He had many fond memories of growing up on the family farm in Monroe Valley. Lew loved their swimming hole and flying airplanes over the farm. Ludare served in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers (290th Batallion) during World War II. He was the owner of Dulgarian's Transmission Service on East Main Street, Middletown. He was very proud of the fact that he was an automatic transmission instructor at B.O.C.E.S in Goshen. Ludare was a former Mechanicstown Fire Chief and Commissioner. Lew also fielded race cars at the Orange County Speedway from 1968-1972. He was an avid gardener and took special pleasure in watching his 5 variety pear tree produce fruit year after year. He had an interest in beekeeping and the Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program. Ludare was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Jane (Malanowski) Dulgarian and his daughter Deanna Mae (Dulgarian) Murray. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Charles "Barky" Dulgarian, Korkean "Corkey" Dulgarian, Edward "Eddie" Dulgarian and Vartan Dulgarian; sister, Kathryn "Kay" Morgan. He is survived by one sister, Ester Beatrice of Brick, NJ. Ludare is also survived by two sons, Ludare "Charles" Dulgarian and fiance Liz Penny Kerrigan and Alan "Doug" Dulgarian and companion, Wanda Ronk; grandchildren, Dawn (Ernie) Kroll, Bill (Ione) Rogers, Trisha Rogers, Doug Dulgarian and Chrissy Dulgarian; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 14 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 15 in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Goshen, NY. Arrangements under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc.
