Lee Roy Piggott, Jr. Goshen, New York Lee Roy Piggott, Jr., a longtime resident of Goshen, entered into rest surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 21, 2009. He was 80. Lee Roy was born August 15, 1928 in Middletown, NY the son of Lee Roy Piggot, Sr. and Martha (Finnegan) Piggott. He grew up with his grandparents, Joseph and Anna Finnegan, of J.M. Finnegan Sales and Exchange. They traded work horses and also farmed. Lee joined the navy and was a US Navy Second Class, Aircraft Mechanic, attached to Fleet Air Arm at London, England 1946-1948. After he left the service, he worked for Pro-Van Trucking as a welder and mechanic. Lee enjoyed flying and was the President of the Warwick Flying Club and also a member of the civil Air Patrol in the 1960s. He also operated several of his own businesses; Piggott Masonry and Contruction (1962-1972) and Piggott's Fresh Fruits and Vegetables in the Village of Goshen (1972 - 1989). He also worked for Service Merchandise as a security guard before retiring. He was a member of the Goshen VFW and the American Legion. Lee and Sophie celerated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 9, 2009. Their children threw a surprise party at Old Erie Pub, Middletown, NY. The beautiful cake was supplied by Something Sweet, Middletown, NY. He is survived by his loving wife, Sophie S. Piggott of 60 years at home; sons, Lee Roy Piggott III and wife Karen of Galles Ferry, CT, Kenneth Piggott and wife Ruth of Goshen; daughter, Sophie A. Piggott of McKinney, TX; sister, Anna Krawcyk of Goshen, NY; 4 grandchildren, Denise VonHusen, Jessica Craig, Ryan Piggott O'Connell, Shane Piggott O'Connell; 1 great granddaughter, Eryn VonHusen; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Helen Piggott VonHusen and brother, Joseph Mead. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 24, 2009 from 4-8 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church St., Goshen, NY. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's R.C.
