Lawrence Nelson

Lawrence "Larry" Nelson of Westtown, born August 20, 1956, passed away peacefully early Thursday surrounded by his wife and two daughters. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Wendy (Paul) Nelson and his two beautiful daughters, Lauren Ford and her husband Brent of Westtown and Angela Dombal and her husband EJ of the Town of Greenville. He was the loving Poppy of his granddaughter, Addison Angela Ford and his grandson Edward Nelson Dombal. Larry's surviving mother is Dolores Taft and her husband John of Red Oak, VA. He also leaves behind an extended family of siblings as well as many dear friends. Larry is a retired union carpenter from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Union 0279 of Hopewell Junction. He was a very proud member. His numerous trades included custom cabinetry, masonry and carpentry. Larry was a passionate outdoorsman. He spent many days hunting and fishing. He loved being outside and watching wildlife. He was also a member of two hunting camps, Meadow View and Big Bucks. He also truly enjoyed playing cards with the guys at camp. More than anything, Larry was a family man. The highlight of his week was having Sunday dinners with his wife, daughters and their families. In recent years his grandchildren became the light of his life - Poppy adored his grandchildren and they adored him. Larry often spoiled his pets as well. He enjoyed camping with his family at their seasonal site at Catskill Adventure Resort in Wurtsboro, NY. Larry lived his life enjoying all that he loved. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Donovan Funeral Home in Goshen, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Holy Cross, 626 County Route 22, Middletown, NY.
