LAURA ROSE BENEDICT March 24, 1922 - December 6, 2016 Vernon, NJ Laura Rose Benedict, 94, of Vernon, NJ, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Homestead Rehabilitation Center, Newton, NJ. Laura was born March 24, 1922 in Sugar Loaf, NY, the daughter of Herbert Hall and Teresa (Schulte) Hall. She retired as a direct support caregiver for the developmentally disabled at a group home in Goshen, NY. She was also a nurse's aid at Castle Point Veterans hospital for many years prior. Try as we may to figure out life and death, to each of us the memories shared with our loved ones who have passed are very special and loving. Laura Rose Benedict; the woman who took pride in her beautiful garden, but didn't think twice about sharing the seeds or cuttings so another garden could grow; the woman who would spend the day baking only to give away her day's work to friends; the woman who would laugh so hard you couldn't help but laugh yourself. Though smaller in stature than most, her heart was as big as the sky. She was a daughter, a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother, a friend and an inspiration for all she met. Let's not mourn her passing but remember her life for its richness, joy and love. She is survived by her children, Sharon Misretta and husband, Vincent of Rochester, NY, Gary Benedict and wife, Cynthia of Middletown, NY and Craig Benedict and wife, Linda of Efland, NC; seven grandchildren: April Brendli, David Mistretta, Heather Uhl, Kristopher Benedict, Kara Anderson-Winchell, Rachael Benedict and Alex Benedict; eight great-grandchildren: Jenica, Jeremy, Maverick, Shayna, McKenna, Trevor, Henry and Samuel; and many nieces and nephews. Laura was predeceased by her daughter, Cathy Morris; brothers, Frank and Peter Hall; and sisters: Gladys Rhodes, Bertha LaForge, Adelaide Weber and Ellen Whitney. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, December 10th at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY, with a service at 3:30 p.m. where family and friends may share memories of Laura.
