Joseph H. Nelson, age 88, of Goshen, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Valley View Center for Nursing Care & Rehab, Goshen, NY. Joseph was born December 10, 1926 in Middletown, NY, the son of the late Herbert and Mae (Daly) Nelson. He was the widower of Miriam Knob Nelson. Joseph served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Royal Heart Labs, New Hampton, NY, he loved being a fifty year member of the Dikeman Engine and Hose Company and Goshen Fire Police. Joh was an avid NASCAR "24" fan, NY Mets and Alabama Crimson. Joe's family would like to thank Glenmere # 2 for the great care they gave our Dad. We also want to thank two people who always made Joe laugh Frank Shanley and the "most beautiful girl in the world". He is survived by his two daughters, JoAnn Coons and husband Wayne of Middletown and Mary Ellen Nelson of Middletown; sister, Lydia Knob and husband Edward of Goshen; grandson, Daniel Joseph Coons of Middletown and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, January 25 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Monday, January 26, 2015 in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
