JOHN WILLIAM JANES MARCH 6, 1932 - FEBRUARY 4, 2009 John William Janes, 76, of New Hampton, NY passed away suddenly Wednesday, February 4, 2009. He was born March 6, 1932, the beloved son of Kathleen and Arthur Janes. He grew up in Park Slope Brooklyn and only left when he married the love of his life, Ann Culhane and moved to the Bronx. John was an avid traveler seeking off-beat adventures; his favorites included a freighter cruise to Europe and a canoe trip down the Amazon. He loved his many trips to Ireland above all. He had a keen sense of humor, a warm hearted personality and loved all sports, especially the Mets. He was proud of having served his country in the Army during the Korean War. To many, he was a great friend and a favorite Uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him most and whom he loved best; his son and daughter, Sean and Ann; their spouses, Maureen and Joe and especially his grandchildren Kelly, Sean, Kiera and Cassidy. Visitation will be Friday, February 6, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church St., Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 7, at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave., Goshen. Burial will follow in the Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Craigville Road, Goshen, NY.
