John (Jack) E. Hughes, 81, of Goshen died Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Valley View Center for Nursing Care & Rehab, Goshen, NY. Jack was born February 14, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Thomas J. and Margaret (Dennigan) Hughes. He was the widower of Catherine T. Hughes. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired Bill Poster for Sale Point Posters, Brooklyn, NY and the former Business Agent for Local 3038 of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. He was a member of the Flatbush Lions Club for over 30 years, past president and a Melvin Jones award recipient He is survived by daughter, Margaret A. Mooring and husband Bruce of Cary, NC, his son, John E. Hughes of Brooklyn, NY and daughter and Carol Ann Ferrelli and husband Anthony of Goshen; sisters Mary Kelly and husband John of Toms River, NJ; Theresa Collette and husband William of Walden brother, Paul Hughes and wife Susan of Wallkill; eight grandchildren, Catherine, Kelly, Laura, Jennifer, Kimberly, Christopher, Kathleen, and John ; one great grandson, Caleb; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine; and 3 brothers, Vice Admiral (Ret.) Thomas J. Hughes, Joseph Hughes and James Hughes. Visitation will be Thursday, September 20 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, September 21 at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY. Burial will follow St. John's Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
