John Clancy

John (Jack) Clancy Goshen, New York John "Jack" Clancy of Goshen died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 9, 2011. Jack was born on April 12, 1928 in Scranton, PA, the son of John and Margaret Clancy. He served in the United States Army in World War II from 1946 to 1948 and in the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1951. He graduated from Olyphant High School in Olyphant, PA in 1945 and from Mansfield State Teachers College in Mansfield, PA in 1952. Jack taught fifth grade in the Goshen Central School District for over thirty years. After his retirement from the Goshen School District, he was employed by Key Bank for ten years. He was a coach in the Goshen Little League for many years. He was a long time member of the Cataract Engine and Hose Company and a Past President of the Goshen Fire Police. He was an usher at St. John the Evangelist Church in Goshen. He was a member of the Goshen Senior Club. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary at home; his children, Mary Ellen Ouslander and husband Arthur of Severna Park, MD, John M. Clancy and wife Ann Brady of Middletown, Judith Ann Riker and husband Kenneth of Bridgewater, NY, Eileen Clancy and husband Brian Ratynski of Newburgh, Jean Marie Ernest and husband Robert of Westboro, MA; grandchildren, Jacob Ouslander, Matthew Ouslander and wife Erin, Sarah Gretczko and husband Michael, Brendan Clancy, Caitlin Clancy, Martin Riker, Grace Riker, Reed Ratynski, Owen Ernest, Molly Ernest, Shea Ratynski, Keegan Ernest and Quinn Ratynski; great granddaughter, Olive Ouslander. Jack was a devoted husband and a kind, considerate and generous father, grandfather, great grandfather, teacher and friend. He had an infectious wit and friendly personality and was well loved by family and friends alike. Jack is also survived by brothers, Joseph Clancy, Robert Clancy, Patrick Clancy and William Clancy and his sister, Nancy Kratochwil. He was predeceased by a brother James Clancy. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13 from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, April 14 at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY. Burial will follow in Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
