Jane Templeton

Catherine Jane Templeton, 82, a retired registered nurse from Orlando, Florida, passed away on Saturday, October 17 from congestive heart failure. Mrs. Templeton was surrounded by her five children and most of her 17 grandchildren, many of whom she helped raise. She spent the last three months of her life at her daughter's home in Laurel, Maryland, where family and friends visited and cared for her. Mrs. Templeton was a native of Goshen, New York, where she was married and raised her family until she moved to Florida in 1983. She received a degree in nursing from Fordham University and took additional classes at Columbia University. She earned her BSN at Mt. Saint Mary's College in Newburgh, New York, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She achieved this distinction as a single mother of five children after the untimely death of her husband, Warren. Mrs. Templeton also took courses towards her master's degree at the University of Florida. In 2012, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Her health worsened in late August of this year when she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Despite her serious health issues, Mrs. Templeton retained her passionate devotion to her family, her sharp sense of humor and her lifelong love of books. Mrs. Templeton is survived by her three daughters, Dale Templeton (Ray McInerney), Nancy Templeton, Colleen Ryan, (Paul), her two sons, James Templeton (Sara) and David Templeton (Maura), and by her 17 grandchildren, a great-grandson and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Her husband, Warren, died in 1975. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Adrienne Bond and Doris Davis, and her brother David Maloney. A funeral mass will be held in her memory at 10:00 a.m. on November 13th at St. John's Church in Goshen, NY.
