James William Dwyer

James "Jim" William Dwyer, 91, of Goshen, New York, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024. He was surrounded by loving family and friends.

Jim was born June 25, 1933 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the son of Jeremiah J. Dwyer and Mary M. Dwyer née Feehan.

Jim graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1951. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served until honorably discharged in 1953. Following the Navy, he attended Montclair State in New Jersey, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Jim went on to study international relations in a masters program at Georgetown.

Jim married Maria Van Leeuwen Kondracki on February 7, 1988 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Jim and Maria were married for 36 years. They combined their families and created a happy life for all.

Jim worked as an executive in the insurance industry with Mutual of New York and its subsidiary in Canada. He went on to start a financial services company called Strategic Planning. Jim was a certified life underwriter (CLU) and a chartered financial consultant (ChFC).

Jim was a patron of the Pride Center of Equality in Ft. Lauderdale (formerly GLCC). He helped them obtain funding at a critical juncture in their growth.

Jim was the founding President of the Cypress Creek Rotary in N. Ft Lauderdale. After moving to New York, he got involved with the Rotary clubs there as well.

Jim always had a joke ready for friends and family and had the ability to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. He leaves a vacuum and will sorely be missed. It was a better world because he was in it.

Remaining to cherish Jim's memory are his beloved spouse Maria Dwyer; children James Dwyer and spouse Natalie, Jeffrey Dwyer and spouse Cinthia, Gregg Dwyer, Laura Anne Dwyer, and Chris Kondracki; grandchildren Dash Dwyer, Chloe Dwyer, Brady Dwyer, Peter Kondracki, Michael Kondracki, Zamiyah Johnson, and Isyss Williams.

Preceding Jim in death are his parents Jeremiah and Mary Dwyer; siblings Mary Phillips, Anne Compeau, Peg Davis, Kay Mitchell, John Dwyer, Adelaide Kelley, Jeremiah Dwyer, Joseph Dwyer, and Juliana Davison; and son Peter Kondracki.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 6 from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.

A Mass to Celebrate his life will be held 10:00 am on Monday, October 7, 2024, at St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 71 Murray Avenue, Goshen, NY. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Goshen.
