James William Carroll, Sr., 75, of Middletown died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center , Middletown , NY . James was born June 14, 1937 in Bronxville , NY , the son of James L. and Veronica (McGuinness) Carroll. James served in the U.S. Air National Guard of New York from 1957 to 1963. He was a NYC Police Office and retired from the 44th Precinct, Bronx , NY , he was member of NYPD 44 Forever Club and 1013 Club, Rockland County and a member of the Middletown Elks Club. After retiring from NYPD he owned and operated Scotchtown Farm in Middletown, NY, raising and racing thoroughbred horses.. He is survived by his wife, Maureen F. Carroll at home; children, James W. Carroll, Jr. and wife Debbie of Cary, NC; Elizabeth "Beth" Toombs and husband Philip of Poughquag, NY, Veronica Harrison and husband Eric of South China, Maine, Daniel Carroll and wife Melissa of New Jersey, Richard Carroll and wife Caitlin of Tarrytown, NY; 2 stepsons, Louis Coppeto of Middletown and Thomas Coppeto of Boston, MA; sisters, Anne Conway of Mt. Kisco, NY, Mary Alice (Toodles) McCombe of Yonkers, NY and Veronica "Vera" Norton of Lake Bluff, IL; brothers, Thomas Carroll and wife Rose of Tucker, GA and Michael Carroll and wife Darlene of Wykliffe, OH; stepbrother, Fred Janes and wife Sandy of Madison, OH; 9 grandchildren, Heather, Christopher, Jordan, Justin, Kaitlyn, Zachary, Hannah, Garrett and Emily, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 27 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street , Goshen , NY . The funeral will be Thursday, February 28 at11:00 am in the Funeral Home with the Reverend James Gould officiating. Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery , Goshen .
