Harry Ferrara

Harry Ferrara, 94, a longtime area resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Elant at Goshen. Born September 26, 1920 in North Bergen, NJ, the son of Antonino and Anna (Cash) Ferrara. Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had unconditional love for his family and was always so proud of them. Harry was a veteran of the U.S. Army. When discharged in 1946 he went back to work in the leather goods trade and upon retirement he was co-owner of Marylu Handbags in Manhattan. Harry loved to tinker with anything, he would sit behind a sewing machine and repair handbags and make fine leather belts. In the summer you would always find him tending to his vegetable garden. Survivors include his daughter, Anna Shapiro and husband Marshal of Manalapan, NJ; sons, Richard and wife Millie of Goshen, Peter and wife Diane of Vero Beach, FL; 5 grandchildren, Cami, Debra, Doreen, Richard and Karen; and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Lucy after 60 happy years married, brothers, Charles, Frank and Louis; sisters, Rose and Prudy. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, April 23 from 2 to 4 PM & 7to 9 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 AM on Friday, April 24, at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY. Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
