Frances Jean Dixie McMahon Goshen, New York Frances Jean Dixie McMahon of Goshen, entered into rest on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Valley View Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Center in Goshen. The daughter of the late Claude & Frances Colstrom Dixon, she was born July 31, 1923 in Marion, Kansas. She was the widow of Robert Mickey McMahon whom she married on Dec. 14, 1946. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Greenhill and husband John of Goshen, Kathleen Wronka of S. Carolina, and Irene Aldrete and husband Phillip of Arizona; son, Michael McMahon of Colorado; sister, Patricia Wells and husband William of Kansas; sister-in-law, Irene Murray of Beacon and brother-in-law, Francis McMahon of Connecticut; grandchildren, Shane Miles and wife Victoria of N.C., Sharon Frey and husband Kevin of Goshen, John Greenhill and wife Suzanne of Florida, NY, Jason Wronka of Middletown, Zachary McMahon and wife Sonia of Colorado, and Robert Aldrete of Arizona; beloved great grandchildren, Shyanne & Ethan Miles, McKayla, Ryleigh and Anya Frey, Jenna & Megan Greenhill, Soriah and Jeremiah Aldrete; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Claudine and Arlene and brother Max. Dixie served in the United States Army from 10-21-1943 thru 9-29-1946, where she received a Good Conduct Medal. Her proudest memory was when she went to England to bring the war brides and their babies back to the U.S. Dixie was a life member of the V.F.W. in Murrels Inlet. She was also a life member of the Disabled Veterans of America and American Legion Auxiliary of Goshen. She was a member of St. Johns Church of Goshen and St. Michaels of Surfside Beach, S.C. Dixie was a homemaker, an Avon sales rep. and a school bus driver for the Goshen School District. Dixie will be happily remembered by all who knew her for her vibrant red hair and her infectious smile. She & Mickey enjoyed life to the fullest. They retired to the lovely Myrtle Beach area where she and Mickey enjoyed everyday as if it were Saturday, and they really enjoyed their summer visits with the grandchildren. Dixies family would like to thank her extended family at Valley View for their devotion and care they have provided over the last few years. Visitation will be Friday, March 7, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 pm with a Memorial Service immediately following at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen.
