Floyd B. Decker "Buddy", 88, of Goshen, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY after a short illness. Buddy was born January 17, 1927 in Goshen, NY, the son of the late John and Bessie (Mann) Decker. He served in the US Army during World War II; and was a proud veteran. He retired from the U.S. Post Office, Goshen, NY after 38 years of service. He spent 40 years coaching little league; he loved the game and the kids. Buddy had a love for all sports especially baseball. He was a NY Yankee fan but loved his Cincinnati Reds. He was an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday school. He was a lifetime member of the Cataract Fire Department in Goshen, NY. He was known to his family as a soft spoken and gentle man, who always put his family first. He had many, many friends. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Irene (Seer) Decker at home; children, Judy Nowicki and husband John of Goshen, Steve Decker and wife Sue of Pine Bush, and Pam Decker of New Milford, CT; 4 grandchildren, Kelly (Nowicki) Grob and husband Mark of Middletown, Gregory Nowicki and companion Marietta Edwards of Sparrowbush, NY, Rebecca Decker of Pine Bush and Sara Decker and fiance, Bill Barba of Brooklyn, NY; 2 great granddaughters, Olivia and Riley Grob; niece, Debbie Joshnick and husband Craig and their son Austin; and nephews, Keith Decker, Harold Decker, and Capt. Nick Barone USN, who was like a son to him. Buddy was predeceased by four brothers, Douglas, Harold, Donald and Jay Decker; and his beloved dog Abby. There will be no visitation and burial will be private with graveside Service with Military Honors at the discretion of the family at Slate Hill Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
