Filomena Rosalinda Donati October 10, 1925 – June 1, 2018 Filomena Donati, 92, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on June 1, 2018 at her home in Middletown, NY. Fil was born in the Bronx to Elidamo Bartolomei and Assunta (Andreucetti) Bartolomei, immigrants from Tuscany, Italy. She grew up with her brothers the late Silvio & Aldo Bartolomei and a large extended family of aunts, uncles & cousins. Fil attended the first high school built in the Bronx, Morris High, where she excelled in academics & sports. On October 24, 1948, Fil married Charles, a WWII veteran who predeceased her. They raised their 4 children in a loving home environment first in Thornwood, NY and then Ringwood, NJ. Fil opened her home to family and friends who enjoyed her company and cooking. She took care of her mother and mother-in-law when they were no longer able to care for themselves. Fil is survived by her 4 children Terrence Donati & his wife, Silvana, Karen Recine & her husband George, Jeffrey Donati & his wife Lauren, & Stephen Donati and his wife Nicoletta; her 9 grandchildren Jennifer, Stephanie, George, Brad, Lauren, Angelique, Carly, Paige and Charles and 8 great-grandchildren Alana, Alexis, Griffin, Brighdin, Charlie, Jason, Evelyn, and Molly. Hard working & responsible, Fil also made time for family fun. Some family favorites were summer days at Jones Beach, drive-in movies, ice skating, camping, hiking and many wonderful holiday celebrations. One of Fil's favorite hobbies was searching flea markets, garage sales, & antique stores for furniture and decorative items. From her finds she created a beautiful, comfortable home. Another pastime was reading, especially mysteries. Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Friday, June 8 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Donovan Funeral Home, 82 S Church St, Goshen, NY. On Saturday, June 9, at 10:00 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 787 Franklin Lakes Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, 980 Huron Road, Franklin Lakes. A luncheon is planned. Details will be provided following the mass.
