Enno Dam, Jr.

Enno Van Dam, a prominent builder and real estate developer, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side, on March 8, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 67. Son of the late Enno and Florence Masker Van Dam, he was born April 13, 1939 in Middletown, NY. As a young man, he resided on a working dairy farm in Goshen, NY that is now the location of Harness Estates. He attended school in Chester and was a 1958 graduate of Goshen High School. On December 1, 1962 he married his High School sweetheart, Shirley Van Dam and had three daughters. He found an early love for car racing having worked at his family business at Peekskill Speedway and Victory Speedway in Middletown, NY.. Through life he was an avid race fan, traveling the NASCAR circuit in support of his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. In the early 1970s he began a land development business and built homes throughout Orange County, including Hill Road Estates. He was a man who took much pride in his work and accomplishments. A caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be sadly missed. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Darlene Van Dam-Burch and husband William Burch of Montgomery, Sheila Dzierzek and husband Michael Dzierzek of Campbell Hall, Andrea Van Dam-Sica and husband Richard Sica of Ridgefield, CT; grandchildren, Ryan and Brennan Dzierzek of Campbell Hall, Cory Schreiner and Nicholas Burch of Montgomery, Isabella and Alexandra Sica of Ridgefield, CT; mother-in-law, Josephine Lempka of Goshen; brother-in-laws, Robert Lempka of Walnut, CA and Richard Lempka of Middletown; sister-in-law, Rose Lempka of Palm Bay, FL and nieces, Tammie Lempka and Tracey Miller. He was predeceased by his beloved Golden Retrievers, Ginger and Cinnabon. Visitation will be at the Donovan Funeral Home on Sunday March 11, 2007 from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church of Monday, March 12, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at a later date.
