ELIZABETH S. KREHER April 27, 1928 - November 4, 2016 Chester, NY Elizabeth S. Kreher passed away on November 4, 2016 after a brief illness. Born April 27, 1928, Betty grew up in Chester, NY, and served her beloved Village of Chester for forty-six years as Village Treasurer and Clerk before retiring in 2007. She was the recipient of the Kiwanis International's NY District 2006-2007 Everyday Hero Award. Betty valued her participation and the friendships she formed as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Orange Blossom Post 1167 of Chester, NY. She was a communicant of St. Columba Roman Catholic Church, and served many years as a member of the parish's Ladies Auxiliary. Above all, family and friends (old and new) meant the world to Betty. She cherished spending time with those she loved, and will be missed terribly. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Rollin and Katharine Schanck; her husband of 48 years, Paul M. Kreher; and her siblings: Margaret Hegney, Mildred Paterson, Garrett Schanck, and James Schanck. Betty is survived by her six loving children: Elizabeth A. Kreher, Mary-Ellen Kreher, Katherine Higgins, Margaret Kreher, Patricia Pryor, and Paul D. Kreher; devoted niece, Susan Hegney Allioux; beloved grandchildren: Timothy P. Higgins, Meaghan Higgins Helms, Kathleen Rose Higgins, Daniel J. Zurlo, Claire E. Zurlo, Katharine G. Zurlo, Edward B. Pryor, Paula J. Pryor, and Michael S. Kreher; and by lovely great-granddaughter Madison Kathleen Helms. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 9th at Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 10th at St. Columba Roman Catholic Church in Chester.
