Elizabeth Freeman

Elizabeth Amelia Dolson Freeman, 92, a retired hairdresser and lifelong resident of Blooming Grove, NY passed away at home on Saturday, January 14, 2017. Elizabeth was born on February 9, 1924 in Washingtonville, NY to James Dolson and Lillian Amelia Freeman. She was predeceased by her husband, Hilton Eugene Freeman with whom she raised six loving children. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Beulah Adams, Hazel Dolson, Vera Jean Jennings, and her brothers, Reuben Dolson, Ralph Dolson and Verny Dolson. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Amelia Van Dunk and husband Darrel of Boonville, NY, David Freeman of Kingston, NY, Belinda Hunter of Blooming Grove, NY, Timothy Freeman of Newburgh, NY, Cynthia Houston and husband Cornelius of Blooming Grove, NY, and Diane Freeman of Blooming Grove, NY. Elizabeth is also survived by 17 beautiful grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and cousins by the dozens! Elizabeth was a member of her beloved Bethany Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, and Deacon. She was the "Mother of the Church"! All were welcome to Elizabeth's open arms! Many consider her their Grandma, great Grandma, and great, great Grandma too! Elizabeth was a very active woman back in the day as well as in her later years. Bingo was at the top of her list of things to do! Bowling was dear to her heart and she competed in tournaments all over the United States. She loved to watch sports like tennis, baseball, boxing, and MMA. Elizabeth enjoyed watching Venus and Serena play and was our #1 Mets fan. She loved to beat us at Scrabble! She enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles with a nice cup of hot tea. We miss her dearly, but know that she loved us all. Visitation will be Saturday, January 21 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY, with the Funeral at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Reverend Dr. Nancy Fields officiating.
