Edith O'Brien

Edith Louise (Nappa) O'Brien, 74, of Goshen, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ surrounded by her loved ones. She was the daughter of the late Robert Louis Nappa and Emma (Bauer) Nappa, Edith was born on February 3, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY. Edith and her husband Daniel met at his family business in New York City where she was the bookkeeper. Shortly after getting married they moved their family to Goshen, NY where she was an active member of the community; J&C's, Goshen Rotary, Goshen Chamber of Commerce (President 1982-1984) and Great American Weekend. Edith continued work as a bookkeeper for the family business, J. J. O'Brien and Son until the business closed in 1991. She then continued her career as a bookkeeper with the Stony Ford Foundation until retirement. Edith was a devoted wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother that will truly be missed. She enjoyed cooking, knitting blankets and sweaters for those that she loved and spending time at the Middletown Senior Center and the Wallkill Quilting Bee. Her greatest joy was spending time and spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Rea O'Brien; daughter Danielle M. Weidel and her husband, Brett; daughter Gretchen F. Loblanco and her husband Joseph; son Daniel R. O'Brien Jr and his wife Christine; step-daughter Mary P. Torres and her husband Paul; step-son Daniel P. O'Brien and wife Melissa; grandchildren: Zachary Weidel, Mackenzie Weidel, Isabelle Charleston, Reagan O'Brien and Alexandra O'Brien, Sophie Torres, Conall Torres, Sean O'Brien, Patrick O'Brien and Siobhan O'Brien; sister Barbara and partner Rochelle and nephews and nieces. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 4pm to 7pm at Donovan's Funeral Home, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10am at Church of St. John the Evangelist, 71 Murray Avenue, Goshen, NY.
