WENNER, Charles Bellew Charles Bellew Wenner, 89, of Goshen, NY and formerly Ridgewood, New Jersey, where he lived for thirty years, and Darien, Connecticut, where he and his family resided for fifteen years, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2007 from complications of a stroke. Charlie, the son of Charles and Florence Wenner, was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. He attended Yale University and served in World War II and the Korean War. He retired as a colonel in the United States Army and was a member of the National Guard Reserves. Charlie retired from Becton Dickinson and developed a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hiking, orienteering and whitewater rafting. He also loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was married for 50 years to Joan Morrison Wenner, who predeceased him in 1997. He is survived by his four children; his son, Charles Roderick of Arlington, VA and his three daughters, Nancy Wenner, of Hoboken, NJ, Joan Wenner Piness of Chatham, NJ, and Betsy Jane Wenner and her husband, Patrick Klewicki, of Bloomingburg, NY. Charlie had seven grandchildren whom he adored: Elizabeth, Casey and Kelly Klewicki, Kara and Julia Piness, and Abigail and Charles Roderick Wenner, Jr. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that contributions be made to The Middletown Humane Society, 142 Bloomingburg Road, Middletown, NY 10940. Charlie will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery.Services will be private. A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at a later date. Please contact the Klewicki family for details.
