Charles Lappe

Charles James Lappe, 59 of New Hampton, NY, died Monday, July 23, 2018 at home. Charles was born January 9, 1959 in the Bronx, the son of Charles H. Lappe and Lorraine (Rahmer) Lappe. He was retired from the NYPD and most recently worked as a Canine Handler with his beloved black lab, Dash. He was a loving husband and an incredible dad. Chuck was filled with love and pride in the presence of his children. He found his passion in coaching. He started out coaching his three children in Goshen Little League, Goshen Youth Football and travel softball before coaching high school football at John S. Burke Catholic and Goshen High School. Chuck forged some of his most treasured friendships with his fellow coaches and took great pride in the opportunity to be a positive influence for young people through athletics. He is survived by his wife, Laura Lappe at home; two sons Don Lappe and wife Jennifer of Charlotte, NC and James Lappe of New Hampton; and daughter, Erin Lappe of New Hampton. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Lorraine and his sister, Grace McGowan. Visitation will be Friday July 27 from 2 to 4 PM & 7 to 9 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:30 am on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 90 Euclid Ave., Middletown, NY. Burial will follow in Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown, NY.
