Charles Decker

Charles I. Decker, Jr., age 55, of Salisbury Mills, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at St. Lukes/Cornwall Hospital, Cornwall, NY. Charles was born June 15, 1961 in Newburgh, NY, the son of Charles I. Decker, Sr. and Barbara E. (Varwig) Decker. Charles was employed by Public Service Electric & Gas, Secaucus, NJ as a Relay Technician. He was past Chief of the Monell Engine Co. in Washingtonville. He enjoyed Sunday softball at Mays Field with his longtime teammates, playing golf, and his vacations in Florida. He was a devoted fan of the Jets, Mets and Coors Light. He was very proud of his children. He is survived by his wife, Margaret E. Decker at home; parents, Charles I. Decker, Sr. and Barbara E. Decker both of Washingtonville; daughters, Kristen E. and Colleen M. Decker both at home; sisters, Wendy L Moore of Barryville, NY, twin sister, Cheryl L. Myers and husband Kenneth of Salisbury Mills, and Darlena E. Decker and longtime companion John Dolson of Washingtonville; father-in-law, Edmund J. Gilsinan of South Blooming Grove; many nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews and many cherished family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Helyn Gilsinan. The family would like to thank the Washingtonville Police, EMS, Men at Monell Engine Company and all bystanders who made a valiant effort to save Charles' life. Visitation will be Sunday, January 8 from 12 to 4 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, January 9, 2017 at St. Mary's R. C. Church, Washingtonville, NY. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
