Benedetto Rappa

Benedetto "Benny" Rappa, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Benny was born on January 3, 1931 in New York, NY, the son of Vincenzo and Anna (Vassallo) Rappa. Benny served in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1951 to 1953, and the Reserves 1953-1959. He retired from AT&T/Lucent after 40 years as a telecommunications technician. He was a consultant until he was 80 years of age. He was a master stained glass artisan and produced numerous works of art. He is survived by his wife: Rose (DiPenta) Rappa at home; sons, Vincent Rappa and wife Jane of Chester, NY, Michael Rappa and wife Lynda of Raliegh, NC, Joseph Rappa and partner, Anelyn Tolentino of Pine Bush, NY; daughter, Joanne Rittendale and husband Louis of Goshen, NY; sister, Antoinette Siino and husband, Anthony of Queens, NY; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie, Vanessa, Emily, Joseph, Nicholas, Christina and Louis; and 5 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Joseph Rappa and sister Mimi Vassallo. Visitation will be Thursday, June 15 from 5 to 8 PM at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY 10924. A Mass of Roman Catholic burial will be held 10:00 am on Friday, June 16, 2017 at St. John The Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY 10924. Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
