Basil Tournoux

March 17, 1914 — November 9, 2007

Basil L. Tournoux, of Goshen, NY, passed away peacefully on the evening of November 9, 2007, surrounded by family. He was 93. The son of Clarence and Ruth Tournoux, he was born March 17, 1914, in Canton, Ohio. He leaves behind his loving wife of 27 years, Jody, his daughters Barbara Braley and her husband Ron of Eastham, MA, Gail Cahill of Simsbury, CT, his son Bruce Tournoux and wife Joan of San Diego, CA, his grandchildren Nicole Harrington and her husband Paul, Lauren and Renee Tournoux, Scott Braley and his wife Annie, Todd, and Eric Braley, and great-grandchildren Anthony Begbie, Raegan and Madeleine Braley. He began his career as a draftsman for the Timkin Roller Bearing Company and then spent 32 years of service as the executive overseeing national operations for Lord & Taylor. He retired in 1976. As an Army First Lieutenant in the 36th Division, 182nd Infantry, and a veteran of the Second World War, his unit contributed to the capture of Hermann Goering. Also a proud alumni of the Ohio State University, his stories will live on in our loving memory. Since 2004, he's been residing with his wife, Jody, at Glen Arden, Goshen, NY. Visitation will be held at Donovan's Funeral Home, 82 S. Church St., Goshen, NY, on Monday, November 12, 2007 from 2-4p. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, on November 13 at 10am. Burial at St. John's will take place immediately following.
