Arthur Dillin

Arthur J. Dillin Feb. 20, 1924 - July 16, 2011 Middletown, NY Arthur J. Dillin of Middletown passed away peacefully on July 16, 2011 at the Kaplan Hospice Residence in Newburgh. He was 87. He was the son of the late Ruth and Neil Dillin, born February 20, 1924 in Pearl River. Arthur joined the Navy in 1942 and served on the USS Huse De-145 in Operations in North Atlantic. The ship received 5 battle stars for operation at sea. Arthur owned trucking companies his entire life, the last being Prestige Transportation, a boat hauling company on the Hudson River. Arthur was a charter member of the Nanuet Ambulance Corp. and a driver for many years. One of his greatest joys was volunteering in US Coast Guard Auxiliary. He served as Flotilla Commander, taught boating, safety courses and patrolled the Hudson River for many years. Arthur loved fishing and started a family tradition of salmon fishing on Lake Ontario with his son and grandsons. Arthur is survived by daughter, Donna DeSutter and husband Karel of Freeville, NY; two sons, James Dillin and wife Brenda of Campbell Hall and Kent Dillin and wife Carol of El Reno, OK. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Rhodes of Nanuet and Lorraine Schlemmer and husband Philip of Scottsdale, AZ; sisters-in-law, Jean Gray and husband Charles of Round Hill, VA and Shirley Clifford of Merritt Island, FL. He leaves 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Doris Dillin, Baby Carylann, daughter-in-law, Laura Dillin and long time companion, Rose Kennedy. The family is deeply indebted to the very caring staff of Middletown Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center during his stay of many years. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 5-8 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 20 at 10:00 am in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Paul High View Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
