Alice P. Scanlan

Alice P. Scanlan, 97, of Goshen entered into rest on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. Alice was born December 17, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Sherlock) McGowan. Alice was an active member and Eucharistic Minister at St John the Evangelist RC Church, Goshen, NY a member of the Catholic Daughters of America – 918 Court Genevieve Walsh. She was a volunteer and treasurer for the Girl Scouts. She worked as an office manager at a Dentist office. Alice had a wonderful life. She loved to travel and the most important thing to her was her family and her faith. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Santoro and husband William, Virginia Degnan and husband John, Eileen Mealia and husband Raymond, John Scanlan and Elizabeth Smith and husband Robert; son-in-law, Robert Champion; sister, Josephine Myers; brothers, James McGowan and Joseph McGowan and wife Elizabeth; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John L. Scanlan; daughter, Pat Champion; daughter-in-law Ana Scanlan; brother, Michael McGowan and sister, Jane Quinn Visitation will be Wednesday, August 18 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial to Celebrate her life will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at St. John The Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY. Burial will be private in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
