Albert W. Nyland, age 90, of Slate Hill, New York, died Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence of Newburgh, NY. Albert was born December 9, 1921 in Bronx, NY. He is the son of the late Werner and the late Hilda (Mattson) Nyland. He married Estelle Biehle Nyland. He served as an Army Ranger during World War II and received the Bronze Star for his service on D Day. Albert also was a member of the Ranger Battalion Association, WW II and past Commander VFW Closter, New Jersey. He was employed by Sandvik Steel Co., Fairlawn, N.J. as a Traffic Manager. He is survived by his wife: Estelle M. Nyland of Goshen; one son Albert C. Nyland and his wife Eileen, of Slate Hill; one daughter, Janice Nyland of Clinton, New Jersey; three grandchildren - Charles, Brent and Kristen Nyland; five great grandchildren - Ayden, Braedon, Angelina, Amelia and Camilla. He was pre-deceased by three brothers - Axel, Arthur and Lenord and three sisters - Elsie, Edith and Ellen. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 20 at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY with Rev. Peter Rustico officiating. Burial will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, New Jersey, on Tuesday, December 20 at 11:45 am. Calling hours will be Monday, December 19 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.
