Albert Nyland

Albert C. Nyland, 73, of Slate Hill, NY, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 in Bradenton, FL. Albert was born August 29, 1948 in Jamaica, Queens, NY. He is the son of the late Albert and Estelle Nyland. He was a sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam War and received a bronze star for his service. Albert was a member of the Mortar Combat Unit in the Big Red One 1st Infantry Division. He retired from Yellow Freight, as a terminal operations manager. Big Al, as his friends called him, was a lifelong Yankees fan and loved sharing his knowledge of sports trivia with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to socialize and have fun with the many friends he made wherever he went. Albert is survived by and will be dearly missed by his sister Janice, his wife Eileen, son Charles and his wife Heidi, son Brent and his wife Lorna, daughter Kristen, and his six grandchildren Ayden, Braedon, Angelina, Amelia, Camilla, and Ella. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Estelle (Biehle) Nyland and his daughter Diane Nyland. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30 from 4-7 pm at Donovan Funeral Home, 82 So. Church St, Goshen, NY. Burial will be held at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Thursday March 31 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Wounded Warrior Project.
