Abbie Wade

Abbie J. Sayles Wade Middletown, NY Formerly of Goshen, NY Abbie J. Sayles Wade of Middletown, formerly of Goshen NY, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2009 at Orange Regional Medical Center-Horton Campus, Middletown. NY. She was 88. Abbie was born February 10, 1921 in Cornwall, NY, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Walter Sayles. She was the wife of Clarence T. Wade, they were married December 6, 1938. Abbie worked many years as a senior nurse's aide at St. Anthony's Hospital in Warwick and later worked at Orange Farms, now known as Valley View Nursing Care Center, retiring after 20 years of service. Abby was a very devoted woman. She loved cooking for her family and friends, especially at Christmas. She also loved to cook for the Church. Abby loved gospel music and playing or organ and piano. She had a flair for fashion and loved her hats and accessories. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Clarence T. Wade of Middletown; and their children, Clarence Wade, III of Ohio, Willie O. Wade and his wife Barbara of Maybrook, Charles N. Wade of Goshen, Clarice M. Pitkonen and husband Tyster of West Palm Beach, FL, Florentina N. Mann and husband Charles R. Mann of Middletown; brother, Wilfred Sayles of Arizona and sisters, Lucy Sayles of Cleveland, OH and Mary Sayles; 13 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son James M. Wade and 2 daughters, Sandra M. Wade Peachey and Veronica Wade. Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2009 from 6-8 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen. The Funeral Service will be Friday, June 19, 2009 in the funeral home at 11:00 am Burial will follow in Slate Hill Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
